Woman accidentally dumps ex-partner’s hard drive with Bitcoin worth Rs 5,900 crore

A woman confessed to inadvertently throwing away her former partner’s hard drive, which contained 8,000 Bitcoin – now valued at £569 million (Rs 5,900 crore approximately).
The hard drive is believed to be buried beneath 1,00,000 tonnes of waste at a landfill in Newport, Wales.
Halffina Eddy-Evans, the former girlfriend of James Howells, explained that the hard drive was discarded during a house clean-up. “He begged me to take a bag of rubbish to the tip. I had no idea what was inside. Losing it wasn’t my fault,” she told MailOnline.
Eddy-Evans, who shares two teenage children with Howells, clarified she has no intention of claiming the potential fortune. “I hope he finds it, not that I want a penny. I just want him to stop talking about it. It’s not helping his mental health,” she added.
Howells, however, has refused to give up on his “treasure hunt.” He has launched a £495 million (Rs 4,900 crore) legal battle against Newport City Council, accusing them of blocking access to the landfill. “This treasure hunt isn’t going away. The value grows every day,” he told Fortune.
Determined to retrieve the hard drive, Howells pledged to donate 10 per cent of the Bitcoin’s value to develop Newport into “the Dubai or Las Vegas of the UK.”
Legal proceedings regarding the dispute are scheduled for early December.
The Newport City Council remains firm in its stance, citing environmental concerns. “Excavation is not possible under environmental permit, and such work would have a huge negative impact on the area,” said a spokesperson, as reported by MailOnline.
